    About Our Organization

    PEACE NJ (People Enjoying Active Conservation of the Environment in New Jersey) is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2021 by local environmental leaders to support awareness of environmental issues and better sustainable practices, by providing educational programs and promoting safe ways to enjoy the outdoors for all community members.

    Our Mission

    • To provide resources, expertise and opportunities to all members of our diverse community that promote stewardship of public lands, waterways, parks and green spaces with the help of volunteers, as well as public and private partners.
    • To address conservation issues that significantly affect the health and welfare of all members of our communities.
    • To identify resource needs, and design events and materials that engage diverse audiences in conservation and protection of the environment in New Jersey.
    • Support other governmental and/or charitable organizations dedicated to the same purpose by providing educational programs, professional services and events.

    Restoring Riparian Habitat and Fostering Community River Access in Hackettstown, NJ 2025

    PEACE NJ is pursuing grant funding to help Hackettstown complete conservation work along the Musconetcong River in Doug A. Blake Park as well as improve community river access and safety. We are informing the public of the following:

    PURPOSE: PEACE New Jersey is seeking funding throughthe State of NJ Green Acres Program for improvements at the Doug A. Blake (Alumni)Memorial Field Complex and the Charles O. Hayford State Fish Hatchery locatedat 132 Willow Grove St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 in Hackettstown,NJ
    PROJECT SCOPE: PEACE New Jersey proposes improvements at Doug A.Blake (Alumni)Memorial Field Complex nd the Charles O. Hayford :

    environmental impact assessment for the project can be found below:

    Designing an Inclusive Riparian Restoration in a park Hackettstown, NJ 2024

    PEACE NJ is working with the town of Hackettstown and Board of Education to help remove a obsolete diving platform from the Musconetcong River in the local municipal park. Under a grant from funding partners

    US Fish & Wildlife Serve, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and with technical assistance from the National Park Service Rivers Trails and Conservation Assistance program, PEACE NJ will create a permittable design to insure that the river stays healthy, able to support wildlife and improve river access for recreation. PEACE NJ is talking with community members about how we can preserve local historical, cultural, recreational and conservation values through this project.

    Community-Led Research Technical Assistance Grants Program 2022

    PEACE NJ worked with The Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) and River Network, under a grant from the Kresge and Patagonia Foundations, to start a grassroots, ground-up, community-led process in Hackettstown to better understand climate- and water-related issues, impacts and threats in their community, and support advocacy efforts to address them. Results were reported to the community. PEACE NJ used the results to drive improvements in programming. See report under Publications

    Reel Hackettstown 2022

    REEL MUSCONETCONG—partnership project between MWA, PEACENJ and Trout Unlimited. Project goal was to offer Spanish language services on New Jersey “Free Fishing Days” in the fall and late spring/early summer of 2022. PEACE NJ continues to lend fishing poles and equipment on the Free Fishing Day in October each year!

    NUESTRA TIERRA

    Latino Conservation Week: Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra is an initiative of Hispanic Access Foundation (HAF). Latino Conservation Week was created to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. During this week, community, non-profit, faith-based, and government organizations and agencies hold events throughout the country. From hiking and camping to community roundtables and film screenings, these activities promote conservation efforts in their community, and provide an opportunity for Latinos to show their support for permanently protecting our land, water, and air.
